Chalmers Choir Reunion
The Chalmers United Church is hosting a special reunion for the Chalmers Church Choir and their former director, David Cameron, on Saturday, October 5, 2024. This event will feature a public performance at 3:00 PM, showcasing works by renowned composers such as Rutter, Goss, Stainer, and Willan. All choristers who sang under David’s direction from 1966 to 2010, whether during church services or concerts, are warmly invited to attend the reunion, which begins at 1:30 PM.
The reunion offers an opportunity for former choir members to reconnect, share memories, and enjoy music and finger foods. David Cameron, who led the Chalmers Church choir for forty-four years, is renowned for his dedication and contribution to choral music. His tenure saw the production of hundreds of concerts, many accompanied by an orchestra, including notable performances on Good Friday. The repertoire featured works such as the Brahms, Mozart, Faure, Durufle, Widor, Daley, and Rutter Requiems, as well as Handel’s Messiah and Bach’s St. Matthew and St. John Passions. This reunion celebrates his legacy and the enduring friendships formed through music.
