Keeping the Beat Alive: Napanee’s Harmony Lounge & Music Club Empowers Young Rockers
In the heart of Napanee, a harmonious revolution is taking shape, empowering the next generation of rock stars through the Harmony Lounge & Music Club. Established in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, this not-for-profit initiative has grown into a vibrant community hub. Its flagship program, Rock Skool, is now in its third season, providing teens with free coaching and practice spaces for bands across junior, intermediate, and senior levels. More than just a rehearsal spot, Rock Skool offers paid internships to senior high school and college-age musicians, fostering mentorship, skill-sharing, and camaraderie among young artists. This unique program has become a cornerstone for musical development in the region.

What sets Harmony apart is its comprehensive support system for youth bands. Beyond coaching, the program sponsors bands with professional backline gear, social media marketing, photography, videography, and connections to booking and festival opportunities. By partnering with venues and coordinating Youth Rock Showcases, the Harmony Lounge ensures that young musicians can shine on and off the stage. The commitment to nurturing talent extends to every aspect of the program, helping budding artists hone their craft, build confidence, and share their music with the community.

This December 15th, Harmony Lounge is teaming up with the Tir Nan Og Irish Pub and Long & McQuade for the 2nd Annual Youth Rock Showcase. From 5 to 9 pm, families and music lovers can witness the future of rock-and-roll as Napanee’s Rock Skool bands join forces with Kingston’s top youth performers.
