Well we are now officially in Fall. We had a nice end to September with a weekend of sunshine, but we’re starting to see that lovely Kingston fall weather. The leaves are turning, and it won’t be too long before we get the rakes out!
Events wise, October is a jam packed month. We’re going to cover just some of the Can’t Miss Events in October – this is a combination of our personal opinion, as well as the popularity of events on the site, as well as a couple of notable events.
Fort Fright:
It’s Baaaaaaaaaaack! You know it’s Halloween when Fort Fright returns at Fort Henry. This event takes place on certain days all month in October, and is something you need to go see! If you’ve never been you’re really, really, REALLY misisng out.
New this year – not only can you STAY overnight but there’s also a safe pass for children so they won’t get too scared. Awesome stuff – all the details here.
Slimebone City 2nd Annual Horror Film Festival:
October is a really great time to be in Kingston with the Slimebone City Horror Film Festival returning. You can head to the Screening Room to see the movies – and we highly recommend buying the VIP Festival Pass so you can see all 9 films.
Russell Peters:
Russell Peters is a great stand-up comedian, and he comes to Kingston on October 5th, 2014. The K-Rock Centre is the location, and this will be a great show. More details.
Carnival Diablo:
Carnival Diablo at the Grand Theatre is an event you won’t want to miss. It’s the ultimate sideshow, with the likes of glass walking, razor blade swallowing and so much more. This is a unique show that is going to be awesome, and it’s one night only. October 21st, 8pm. More information.
Election Day:
Probably the most important event of all – it’s time to vote! One thing we really like is that with social networks such as Facebook being so much bigger these days, we’re seeing a lot more candidates using that medium to discuss events.
We know sometimes it can be tough deciding who to vote for – and some people we know don’t vote because “they’re all the same”. But that’s what is great about the likes of Facebook – we’re seeing them out of their typical political venue and element, and getting to see real people and how they interact.
More details on Election Day here.
Of course there’s more events such as QPOP!, GOB, The Blues Brothers and more. For everything, please see YGKEvents.com.
