In recent years, Esports has grown into a worldwide sporting event that’s viewed by millions each year. With the speed in which gaming has grown in the past 10 years or so, it’s no surprise that it’s now being held on a competitive stage throughout different countries.
As online games became more and more popular, with a large majority of players starting out playing casino games such as poker or slots, this really gave them the platform to take that step over into Esports for various games.
Esports has grown so big, they’re now able to give out millions in prize money every year to winners, with people coming from all over the world to compete and be crowned champion.

ALGS Championships – January – Japan
One of the first Esports tournaments that kicks off 2025 is the ALGS Championships in Japan. This Esports event hosts pro players from around the world to battle it out against each other to be crowned champion. These players will be battling it out on Apex Legends, a battle royale game where only the toughest survive.
With Apex Legends releasing in 2019, it’s gathered quite a following in those years, with numerous players managing to go professional and take their skills to the Esports events all over the world to compete.
IEM Katowice Poland
Again starting in January, the IEM Katowise Esports event kicks off in Poland this year. Pro players of the long standing Counter Strike game will all be trying to come away with the prize money and be named the winner.
Counter Strike is one of the oldest Esports competitions, with the original game being released all the way back in 2000, it’s gathered a massive following and it probably has one of the biggest fan bases around. Because of this, players have had a number of years to really focus and practice their skill.
Despite Counter Strike 2 being released in 2023, a lot of the players’ skills and practice moved over seamlessly to ensure regardless which one they were playing, their level wouldn’t drop. With Counter Strike also being one of the highest ceilings for skill in an Esports game, it’s no surprise even to this day, players are having to constantly improve and practice to be the best.
VALORANT Masters Bangkok 2025
Valorant is one of the highest skilled games around with perfect aim and consistency required to be at the top. Because of this, it’s no real surprise to see it as an Esports event. The top players have spent hundreds of hours working away to perfect their aim and skills, learning the maps and different techniques to get the slightest edge over their opponent.
Playing Valorant at the top level takes a lot of skill that only a select few can really master, which is why the Valorant Masters in Bangkok is sure to be one of the all time great Esports events. Each year, the competing teams will try new tactics and plays to try and outsmart the other players as skill alone won’t be enough to come out on top. This is one you should definitely tune into.
Six Invitational
Rainbow Six Siege, another high skill level game is due for another Esports event in 2025. This tactical first person shooter has been around for a few years now, but still sees updates and a regular following of both competitive and casual player fanbase.
Rainbow Six Siege is such a hard game to master as you need to understand both the maps, what characters are chosen for that round whilst also having great accuracy, as each one can have a massive impact on how you approach the game.
Whilst it’s incredibly hard to master, if you’re able to consistently have good aim and you can learn how the maps flow and work with different characters, you could be next to be invited to a Six Invitational Esports event.
The gaming industry is constantly being introduced to new games that will then be brought into Esports. From first person shooters, sports games and even slots, there are always new games being introduced.
Each year there seems to be news of a group of games that receives an Esports event, with there being numerous games that have a competitive competition for people to play in to win potentially huge prizes. The likes of EA FC for example, real life Premier League clubs now have their own Esports teams, with the likes of Liverpool even having their own Player Diogo Jota to play in the Esports tournament.
