Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook (b. 1957, lives and works in Chiang Mai, Thailand) is a contemporary artist whose career has seen her work be exhibited at the Venice Biennale and Documenta 13 in addition to several other solo and group exhibitions around the world. She earned her BFA and MFA in graphic arts from Silpakorn University in Thailand before moving to Germany to continue her studies in art. While her career started with the mediums of printmaking and sculptural installations, by the late 90s her work pivoted to a more film and video based practice. Her work explores the porous boundaries between life and death, the local and the international, as well as collective histories and personal fate.
In this installation at the Art and Media Lab, her work The Class (2005) will be on view from 05.08.2022 – 11.08.2022 daily from 12:00-4:00 PM (M-F).
There will be an opening reception of the work on 04.08.2022 at 8:00PM -9:00PM in the Art and Media Lab (open to the public).
