Cultural Creativity Series: Indian Folk Art “Madhubani” with Herman Kaur
Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of Indian folk art at the Cultural Creativity Series workshop on Saturday, September 14, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning. This beginner’s workshop will introduce you to “Madhubani” or “Mithila” Art, one of the most beloved traditional art forms from India. Originating from the Mithila region of Bihar, Madhubani painting is known for its intricate geometrical patterns and vibrant colors. These beautiful paintings often depict themes such as nature, scenes from ancient epics, and deities, reflecting the cultural richness and traditions of India.
Under the guidance of Herman Kaur, a passionate artist and Queens University alumna, you will learn the basics of Madhubani painting and explore key motifs used in this unique art form. Participants will have the chance to recreate one of Herman’s original Madhubani paintings, gaining a deeper appreciation for the skill and creativity involved in this traditional art. This workshop is part of the Cultural Creativity Series at the Tett Centre, which seeks to promote cultural understanding and artistic expression through hands-on learning.
