Remote Photography with Will O’Hare

What if you could create intimate, emotionally rich portraits of someone on the other side of the world—using only your smartphone? Join internationally recognized photographer Will O’Hare for an eye-opening and interactive presentation on the art of remote photography, a storytelling technique that removes physical barriers while enhancing human connection.

Taking place on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Creativity Studios Common Area (Room 214) in the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning, this inspiring session explores how technology, creativity, and compassion intersect to create compelling visual stories.

Will began exploring remote photography during the pandemic and has since used it to document people around the world, including for his work with TalentLift Canada, where he captures portraits of skilled refugees preparing to relocate to Canada. In this presentation, Will will share his journey, the tools and apps he uses—such as FaceTime, CLOS, and Shutter—and how remote photography is transforming the way we communicate and connect across distances.

What You’ll Experience:

An in-depth talk on the evolution and potential of remote photography.
A live demonstration showcasing how these remote sessions work.
A Q&A session to explore your own ideas and curiosities.
Real-life examples from Will’s projects and professional work.
This event is open to ages 16+ and ideal for photographers, creatives, storytellers, educators, and anyone interested in new ways to connect and create.
