Teddy Bear Hospital
Step into a world of cuddly care and learning at the Teddy Bear Hospital, a delightful event designed for families, set to take place on Family Day Monday, February 19th, from 9am to 4pm at the Museum of Health Care in Kingston. This annual event is a unique opportunity for children to bring their beloved teddy bears or other special stuffed animals for a fun-filled ‘medical check-up’. Trained ‘teddy doctors and nurses’ will be on hand to examine and treat any stuffed animal ailments, from the tiniest of bumps to the most mysterious of lumps. It’s an imaginative way for kids to learn about healthcare in a playful, stress-free environment. As they watch their plush friends receive gentle care, children will learn that doctors and hospitals are there to help, easing any anxieties they might have about medical visits.
The Teddy Bear Hospital, a signature event of the Museum of Health Care for over a decade, goes beyond just check-ups. It includes a range of hands-on activities and crafts that are both educational and fun. Children will engage in interactive experiences like bandaging, ‘x-rays’, splinting, and casting, working alongside museum staff and volunteers. They’ll not only leave with a healthier teddy bear but also with a better understanding of health care practices. Suitable for children aged 0-10, this event aims to improve health literacy, promote well-being, and provide a peek into the Museum’s collection of historical medical artifacts. Admission is by donation, and while registration is required, walk-ins are welcome if capacity allows. Don’t miss this chance to turn a day out with your little ones into an adorable adventure in learning and health care exploration!
